My roommate and I just looked this up and your bone marrow alone is worth $23 million. 23 million dollars. So if you ever kidnap someone, don’t hold them for ransom, just keep them in a vegetative state and slowly sell their bone marrow on the black market.

"One of my little boys just kept saying, ‘I love you, I love you, please don’t die with me.’ I never thought I was going to die. The whole time I just kept screaming to them, ‘Quit worrying, we’re fine, we’re fine.’ And I’m very loud, so I just hoped they could hear me because I could hear them screaming. [One girl] was sobbing, and I was like, ‘We’re going to be fine, we’re going to be fine, I’m protecting you.’ And then I said a few prayers. ‘God please take care of my kids.’"

I am an introvert. That means that when I’m feeling down, chances are that I won’t actually go to you for help. In fact, I won’t go to anyone for help. You’ll have to actually check on me. I don’t feel that I should burden others with my problems but if you come to me, I might just trust you enough to let you help.

I’ve seen a few articles on tech news sites - including this TechCrunch one - in light of the recent Yahoo-Tumblr acquisition which try to explain Tumblr’s roots. Where did it come from? Why is it successful?
The first question is pretty simple to answer. Tumblr was a blogging platform. It was much like WordPress, but it became more social. Like Twitter, but more open to customisation. Like Posterous, but more popular. Post-types, were and still are, a defining feature. They make getting content out there, no matter what it is, easy. Reblogging allows content to spread quickly, with inline comments. The simple Dashboard, too, makes content the focus. It’s minimal. It’s good.
I don’t have a tremendous amount to say about Yahoo buying Tumblr. I’m glad that Karp and the crew are getting paid because they’ve made an incredible product. It’s held my attention for the past 5-6 years so they’ve done something right. The fact that so many people were worried and concerned about the acquisition just proves that point again.
What I’m hoping Yahoo can do is show how well Tumblr can hold that immediate zeitgeist. Twitter gets a lot of credit for being an in-the-moment delivery service of news and opinion. I think only some that is deserved. Twitter is really unusable. You can’t read the whole story, barely a blurb, and there’s no pictures or video unless you start doing a lot of clicking.
Tumblr has the same ability to capture-in-the-moment news and it’s so much more readable and enjoyable to use. If Yahoo can do something with that— well I think that’d be great. They should do that or bring back Tumbularity.
Most importantly, I need to get into this web company/startup game cause damn.
